Charlie is an artist hailing from Brooklyn, NY.
His practice is grounded in the intercultural sensibility he developed in his home neighborhood of Sunset Park in New York City. Charlie layers commercial printing techniques and street visual culture: window vinyl, lenticular prints, spray paint, to create compositions that transform with light and perspective. These materials reflect on the hidden histories still operating under the shadows of globalization, which recede into the background of everyday life. These materials also act as metaphors: fragmented landscapes mirror displaced communities, while shifting imagery reveals colonial legacies embedded in diaspora visual cultures. This comes from a persistent interest in layering knowledge, circulating images, segmenting landscapes, and fragmenting compositions. He finds constant inspiration from immigrant vernaculars, colonial archives, and art historical traditions.
Charlie previously mounted solo exhibitions at Canal Projects, New York, NY (2025), Window Unit, South Orange, NJ (2023), and haul gallery, Brooklyn, NY (2021). He was an artist-in-residence at the International Studio & Curatorial Program (2025), Fundação Oriente, Macao SAR, China (2025), and Maracuyá, Tijuana, Mexico (2023). He has also participated in group exhibitions, including the Macao Biennial (2025); Below Grand (2025); Academy Art Museum, Easton, MD (2023); Sikkema Jenkins & Co., New York (2022); Elizabeth Leach Gallery, Portland, OR (2018); Canada Gallery, New York, NY (2017), among others.
